Welcome to the Newcastle University Christian Union website! We meet every Friday, 6:50-8:30pm during term time in Claremont Tower to hang out and encourage each other to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with every student on campus. We spend some time singing and praying to God, as well as having a talk where a passage from the bible is explained to us. We normally head to McDonalds afterwards. Anyone is welcome! – whether you’d call yourself a Christian or not.
As members of the CU, we’re all passionately involved in many local churches across Newcastle. In order to help you get stuck into Church, if you would like to find out more about some of the churches in Newcastle click here.
Taste & See
We recently hosted a couple of days of events looking into the claims of Jesus and the evidence backing them up. We were out on campus for 2 days asking people what their questions on Christianity were, and how they felt about life and about God. Text-a-Toastie happened across halls and 2 city bases on the Wednesday evening, then on the Thursday our lunchtime talk “Why bother? Isn’t Jesus history?” looked at the reasons to consider the claims of Jesus.
Our evening event “Why miss out?” was a cheese and wine night, accompanied by some excellent jazz music and a talk on who Jesus claims to be and what that means for us.
Something More was our week of events in February 2017. We hosted lots of talks exploring whether there is more to life than success, fear, what we see! You can listen to the talks here or check out our website for the event.
On the 21st October we hosted our second ‘Big Questions’ event asking what can Jesus offer to women? If you missed it here is a link to the recording of the talk. To be kept up to date with future Big Questions follow us on Facebook or Twitter!
